Toby Foster - On moving and standing still - Love it!

I saw him once at ryans house and liked him but was not in a record buying mood at the time. What a bummer this shit rules! Im stoked on it and stoked on him. I dont listen to a bunch of solo acoustic stuff so I can't tell you if this is really great but I love it so sucket.

Defiance Ohio - Midwestern Minutes - Its alright -

I like this band a lot, I love their shows. I feel though that they should have stayed a three record band. This record is slower then their previous releases and their fast energetic songs lack energy. I have been spinning this disc a lot but it just doesn't compare to their other stuff. Live the songs on this record rule but recorded it just doesn't really connect with me. Maybe I'm listening to less folk punk then I used to or they are or both.

Damages - Unrequited - Love it

First of all I fucking love this band. This release may be the best 7 inch of the year thats just all I'm saying. Im bummed that it took like 3 months after the release date (I pre ordered it) for it to come to my house because of shit going wrong with the pressing and an unorganized label. Anyways best emo stuff out right now. I want this band to tour the US so I can see them as I do not have the money to go to canada just to see a band play.

Art Vanduhlay - Demo -

This band is all about references to Seinfeld, I never got into the show but for some reason I like the band a lot. The downfall of this band is that if they were serious and wrote real songs they would most likely be one of the best bands in central indiana in a few recordings. Anyways its just a summer project and they are playing their last show out of like four or five in a couple of weeks. Its super rad female fronted hardcore, everything is right on.

7/14/10 -Defiance Ohio - Loved it

This show was decently staked, shit no it was super staked, like BBQ Pringles. I love vacation, Art Vanduhlay blew me out of the water and DO was super rad! I missed the other two bands which sucked because Toby Foster is fucking great. I got to hang out with people that I have not seen in a while. This was the first night that I learned that Char Jar stopped drinking so we bonded on that fact. I spent some cash at this show on goods and what not. Every band that I watched killed it!

7/16+17/10 - Berea Fest - Loved it

This fest was unlike anything that I thought was possible to happen. First the both shows were only 5 bux each and there were a bunch of bands, Shit a bunch of rad bands. Out of all the bands there were about 5 that I have not heard of/didn't care about seeing. The rest I was either semi interested in or wanted to see hardcore. I just am still soaking the whole weekend in. I barely spoke to anyone outside of toodles but still it was a blast, I picked up a lot of records and saw a lot of bands that I most likely wont be able to see for a while. Rad times!

7/7/10 Just Die!, Religious Police and Karna Sarka at the Dojo - Was alright

I missed Religious Police, which sucks because they are fun to watch. After them was Just Die! I didnt really expect much just because they looked like old dudes that would play some awful brand of boring punk rock, but instead they dished out sweet posicore tracks. I was stoked! The lead singer said something in between each song that made me feel super posi. Anyways I bought their record and it is alright. I would love to see them again. After they played I zoned out while a metal band was playing. I'm not going to say anything bad about them, I just don't care for the genre.

Food:

Daiya cheese - Love it

Oh man, Im pretty sure that this blows teese out of the water. I have yet to try it on a pizza but shit that stuff is good. I made some nachos with it two meals in a row and well used it all up. I can't wait to get some more and really make some rad dishes

Galaxy Vegan parmesan cheese - Love it

Ever since I was a kid I would make buttery noodles and load it up with parmesan cheese, over a year and a half ago that stopped due to being vegan. This was the first dish I made when I got home from the store. Even though I knew that vegan fakes don't always transfer over well I loaded my buttery noodles with it and it was one of the greatest tastes of my life. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't taste like real parmesan cheese but I don't know. Just made some popcorn with it and its solid!

Waxeater/Stds vollrath - Liked it

I got to say that I love the bands on my label. The other bands on the show I did not really care about at all. They played and I listened but I was not really blown away or anything. Waxeater played second and brought it, the stds played last and they knew how bad their set was, Haha. Its cool not every show is awesome. No one came out which is a bummer but again it is the Volrath.

Negative Trend #7 - Dude fest preview - Its alright.

Kelso dropped this off at our house while Js and I were gone for a bit. Before I say anything about this in my review I want to have a disclaimer. This is one of the only zines in indy right now. Sometimes people will put out an issue or two of a zine but then nothing more. So Im stoked that this is around because no one is really doing much in this territory in indy. It is the best active Zine that we have...

Anyways to review it, For the seventh issue of a zine I would hope that the makers would at least be able to have a decent layout. The margins are messed up and different throughout the zine which is kind of annoying to look at. I admit that it isn't a super big deal but its just not fun to look at. There are two articles written from some rad dudes in indy but the font is too small and I kind of skipped them because of it. If it was black on white i would have read it more but its white on black which is kind of hard to read when it is small. At least i don't want to be that focused when i am reading something, i just want to read it. The zine comes with a map for the two shows, its not stapled in which is rad. Also there is a band list with pictures for the show. Its kind of awkwardly laid out with black white boxes for what I can guess to be notes. Some information is with the bands but is mostly band member lists. I guess it would be rad it if told me what the bands sounded like or something. There are links to the bands so you can check them out. So yeah thats pretty much it. Its kind of awkward and light in reading, looks like it was rushed through. Im stoked to see where it goes though. I wish that the author would spend more countless hours working on making this a regular zine

Touche Amore - June 27th - Dojo - Loved it

Starting Off I fucking love this band, when I first heard them I was hooked, even though they are from LA they have played indy at least twice this year, which is rad. The show set up was kind of awful, no flyer, two bad indy bands and a seven dollar show. The vibe of the show was weird, when off balance started to play it got worse, they didn't seem to want to play and no one really wanted to watch them. Touche Amore set up in the middle of the room because only thirty people were there. They seemed to be stoked on the show even with a little amount of people there, if they didnt like it then they were really good at faking being happy. They then played the best set of any band that I have seen this year. Seriously it was a blast. One dumb drunk beanbag tried to ruin the show by going wild when everyone else was enjoying the show and the lead singer got him to stop mid song. Im not saying that going wild is dumb but when there are only 30 people at a show its hard to keep anything going for long. Also this dude was easily 400 lbs and most people at the show were my size or smaller. I cant really handle a 200 pound dude run into me so yeah it sucked for the 20 seconds that it lasted. Anyways they finished their last song with a rad sing along and the show was over. I feel like they wont come back but i hope they do.

Comadre/Glasses 2X7 Split - Love it

The songs on this record are solid, both bands. I had no clue who glasses were before this and this is why I love splits because you get exposed to new bands. They are rad and I'm going to get some more of their shit soon. Comadre doesn't let down with material either.

I can't get over how sweet the artwork is. Its almost impossible to describe how I felt when I first checked it out, but here it is, Stoked. Raised glossy black and white font with some artistic stuff. I don't know and fancy terms but If i was deaf i would still buy it based on the artwork that rad. I wish a poster came with it, I know greedy, but its just that super rad!

Food:

Amys - Non- Dairy Cheeze pizza with rice crust - Love it

This is a lazy america classic, Frozen pizza, done well. I love the rice crust because its just a texture that I don't get with pizza so its a different experience. Although its 6 bux for a pizza that is smaller then anyones appetite. Goes well with a side of dark green veggies. This is one of the foods I tell me mom to buy when I visit the parents house for an extended time.

Yves Veggie Chorizo - Love it

I had some of this with toodles the other day. With some fake cheese this makes great quesadillas. Its spicy but not spicy enough for anyone that I normally eat with so be prepared to add some spicy salsa to it. I don't know how to describe the texture of it, kind of like halfway between sloppy joe and taco meat. Pretty solid

Gardein - BBQ Pulled Shreds - Its Alright

This was great because It was easily microwavable but the taste was pretty bland, like it needed onions or something. It was just too plain on its own which is how I ate it. I do like how the packaging said "Saucy in 2 mins." Its pretty healthy just boring. not sure if I would get it again, I would eat it again but I would spend more then two minutes making it taste decent/exciting

Bike:

blackburn - Flea light - Its Alright

I got this light when I realized the light that I had sucked. The bike store dude said that it was a decent light to be seen but not if you really want to see anything at fast speeds. When I night I rarely ride fast in unlit areas anyways so I figured this would be fine for me. First things first it is better then my old light. It also is rechargeable with a usb port which is rad and convenient. It doesnt have a mount that you can put on your bike for easy take off, that is a minus. The Box says that on flash it lasts 5 hours. Mine lasted 3 hours on flash. Im kind of bummed on that as well. At least my shitty light lasted somewhere like 20 or 30 hours on flash or something. I dont know I used it a lot for 3 months and never changed the batteries. I feel like im going to forget to charge this or not get used to charging this light so it won't get used that much.

Last shows at the Halloween House - Liked it

Grown ups dropped off and I didn't have enough time to listen to the bands before hand to know which ones I would like. In the end I only really liked the first band, Vacation and the last band The Dopamines. People are hyping on mixtapes but I think its just because they have a really cute singer and nothing else. They were fun though as well. Even though I'm not a fan of every band Pat likes I still had a blast at this show. Its sad seeing it go after it being the thing to do for the last three years. Its like a piece of me died. Someone better open up a punk house soon!

Music:

Suffix- S/T - Love it

I have been trying to get this tape for a long time. Once tried getting it from the band, Once tried doing a trade with the label, I have some money now so I finally got a copy of it. It's a blast, I love duel vocals and I love male/female duel vocals. The artwork is pretty sweet but the tape lacks lyrics which is a bummer. I have yet to see this band IRL and I doubt that I will ever but this tape is going to be in my rotation for a long time.

Vacation Tape - The Do Shit Tape - Love it

When I learned that the read broke up I was bummed out completely, it was like having a dog get hit by a car. You knew that you could have had fun with it for at least three more years but now you can't. Anyways this is the new bike haus band that Jerry still does lead singing in. I'm stoked on them so fucking much. I remember my roommate getting the demo cd and trying to play it for me but I refused because I loved the read so much. I think im going to go to cincin very soon to see them again.

Nate's Classic Flavor Meatless Meatballs - like it

Whoa its been almost four years since I had some meatballs and I really was not super hyped on them in the first place. But I was in the store and looking for something that new to eat so I can spice up my boring cooking. These meatballs taste like most fake meats, so more like super fake cafeteria food then what you would remember tasting. You have to be reasonably gentle with them because they crumble easily. I ate them with my favorite sauce, spices and sweet peppers so it tasted great. Like most vegan fakes don't eat them plain unless you want to be disappointed.

Dopamines Record Relase : Loved It

This show was stacked of local CinCinners, Dopamine's, Vacation

Till Plains, Frankl Project and Mixtapes. My love/excitement

went to the first three bands mentioned. The show was filled

with friendship all around, The bands were all friend and our car

pool to the show was filled with inside jokes and memorable times

This was one the first times in a long time that I had a blast from

the beginning to the end of the show. All the bands killed it.

I fucking love Till Plains

Waxeater 7inch Release: Liked It

The bands brought it, So did the weather. Tornado close by or

something thirty minutes before the show. Not having been to a

show in bloomington in a while I now remember why I always

pick indy over it when it comes to shows. I fucking loved the

bands but no one in bloomington likes to move. I'm pretty sure

bloomingdudes need to be wasted to get crazy and a local show in

the summer at a venue there is little chance. I had a blast but I

just wished people would move.

Off With Their Heads/Dear Landlord: Was Alright

My power was flickering at my house so I wasn't sure if I would be

without power at night for the second day in a row. I'm not a fan

of any of the bands that played and some were just nothing close

to my music taste. I watched the bands but still wouldn't listen to

any of them outside a show, I did though have some fun with

friends so that was worth eight dollars right? Right?

Records:

Dopamines - Expect the Worst - Like it

I honestly have not given this enough rotations yet to say that I

love it. I know that I will once I get familiar with the tracks.

Solid shit from them and they are becoming one of my favorite

bands in the area even though there are one of the only pop punk

bands I listen to.

Till Plains - Nails Mountain - Love it

Fuck! This has been out for like half a year where was I? I fucking

love this band and this faux 7 inch keeps my romancing a going.

After I listened to it i was like fuck I have to book them in Indy now

Four songs, Killer. Can't wait for them to do a full length.

Waxeater - Sleeper - Love it

The bad thing about being friends with bands is that you get their

release way before it has been released then when it finally does

get released its hard to write what you initially felt about it. Let

me try to go back and time and tell you how I got blown away.

James came over with his walkman or ipod thing and showed me

a track off the record. Having someone tell you what you think of

a record is always awkward when they are right there and I was

listening to it on headphones while cooking lunch. Anyways I

paused my shit and got fucked up on how rad the track was. I

wanted to go directly to my room, lock the door and listen to it in

peace. So a few days later I got the tracks from Rob and did that.

Stoked on it then, stoked on it now. Now its on Cd and the

artwork is excellent.

Waxeater/Jabberjosh - On Deck - Love it

This is my release what do you want me to say about it? Its great

buy it so I can put out more. Honestly this is the best sounding

thing that Useless World has done and I think that the cover art

is the best as well. Two tracks. I'm so happy that Waxeater

exposed me to Jabberjosh, great dudes, great band.
